I'm baaaaaaaccccccccckkkk!!!

Whoa. Didn't realize it's been almost 2 months since my last post. Grabe, so much has happened I have no idea where to start.

Well, for starters, seems I passed CivPro. Didn't get such a fantastic grade though... Darn. Not finishing the pleadings cost me the difference between a 2 and a 2.25. Oh well. That's what I get for cramming. The rest of our grades aren't out yet. I got a text from Nico a few days ago that all our blockmates passed Avena. Yay!!!

The afternoon after I passed our Labor paper, I headed off for Tagaytay with Leo, Kri, Franco, Kip and Toti. Trip was comme ci comme ca. Finals had taken their toll on my mood, and I was not very up and about. After that, I bummed around the condo for a couple of days before I started working.

As for work, well, let's just say I should get compensated just for getting there in one piece. Public transportation in this country redefines the entire concept of personal space, I tell you. My ass suffered through more than one close encounter with a few too many curious hands on my first day reacquainting myself with REAL honest to goodness commuting. Talk about harassment! By the time I got to the office Monday morning, I was just about ready to quit. Monday night, I ended up on the wrong side of Aurora when I got out of the LRT station, and with no pedestrian lane in sight, I ended up taking a cab home. Cost me a good 60 bucks. Tuesday, I tried out a new commute route c/o Paul and got lost in the process and arrived at the office an hour late. Good thing they're not so strict about what time people get there. Wednesday, I got home safe and sound, and ended up drinking with Chi and Lorraine in Cantina. God knows I needed a beer or two. We're being assigned so much work at the office I was almost ready to jump off the penthouse. Thursday, I got lost on my way home. I had just familiarized myself with my commute route, and I wasn't as yet ready to try out the permutations of commuting. So anyway, I left the office around 8 or 8:30 after finishing up with a memo JVP asked me to do. By the time I got off the MRT in Cubao, Gateway was closed, and I had no idea how to get to the LRT, or whether or not it was still open. Well, stupid me, I decided to explore the wonders of the area to try and figure out how to get to the LRT. As it turned out, it wasn't such a good idea. So there I was trudging along the stretch of Aurora in my stilettos searching for that godforsaken LRT station when I realized it was getting darker with every step. The people were looking scarier too. Then it dawned on me that I was wearing my pearls and all. I decided to head back to the more civilized section and took a cab home. When Friday came along, I was ecstatic! I had dinner plans with Chi and Ngangi, and by 5:30, I was high with anticipation of the upcoming weekend. But I was so not meant to leave the office at the designated end-of-the-working-day time of 6pm. (I'm supposed to work from 9am to 6pm, but lately, it's been more like 9am-8pm.) I was packing my stuff up when JVP dropped by the room (Yes, we have a room. Previously occupied by a Junior Associate, called a JA, with the initials VFM.) and asked me to revise the memo, editing out the lawyery-sounding shit and replace them with more normal-sounding terms. In his words, the people who would be reading the memo aren't lawyers, so there went my entire discourse on a petition for prohibition under Rule 65... And 2 hours of my day. I ended up going to North Park at 8.

I've been working as an intern at Picazo for a week now, and it's been, uh, very challenging, to say the least. It' s been one hell of a long week. Good thing I'm not the only intern there. I met this guy Paul from Ateneo Law, and we've been ranting about work every day since we met. And he smokes, thank goodness! It's a very interesting job though. Good news is I realized I'm not that old. I'm the youngest person in the entire firm!!! Bad news is I just realized what life in a law firm is like. It's hell, I tell you. I will never complain about not having anything to do ever again.

Oh, and Chi's leaving for Cebu tomorrow morning on the 9:30am PAL flight. So Lorraine and I will be the only ones in the condo til then. Well, Kri's coming back around May 7th or so, but still, I'll be without the company of my closest friend and partner in crime for almost a month!!! Gawd!!! How will I survive!!! My yosi break buddy will be in an entirely different island group!!! Oh well...

On another note, I just got back from mass and dinner with Lorraine. I'm such a pig. And I wonder why I've been gaining weight. Anyway, what I wanted to say was it's so weird but it really does give me a certain sense of security that there's a pope again.

Well, so there. I'll see if I can sneak a post this week. There's a new intern starting tomorrow, so I guess there'll be less work for me and Paul. I hope!!! Oh, I'll be wearing a suit tomorrow. Hehe! I'll be proxying for someone at this condominium members meeting thingie with Marose, Apple and Paul tomorrow morning. Wish me luck... Still have to go over that script thing. We're facilitating, see, as the other people there, according to Marose, aren't all that familiar with the procedure etc.

Lastly, I extremely detest the use of 3-letter acronyms instead of people's names. I am not a 3-letter word!!! Well, not yet, anyway. Since I'm just an intern and not really working for Picazo (although I have a room, a memo pad, note pad, pen, pencil and yellow pad, and a paycheck tomorrow---Yay!!!), people call me by my first name. But hey, I have a name. Please use it.
