I cut both Nego and PIL today. Somehow, I couldn't convince myself to get out of bed until late in the afternoon. Haven't been all that inspired to go to school or to study lately. Maybe it's the weather. Maybe it's the little tiff I had with my dad a few days ago. Or maybe I'm just not meant for law. Well, too late to back out NOW. I'm already on my third f-ing year. Might as well get it over and done with. Too much at stake if I quit. It's just my sanity and peace of mind that will suffer if I don't. Twisted logic. I know.
Anyway, on to better and brighter things... I went to the Ateneo Alumni Mass at the Gesu last Sunday with Joven. I was actually up really early (for me, anyway) on a bright and sunny Sunday morning. Took a shower, got dressed, and waited for Joven to call or text that he was downstairs already. As usual, he was right on time. After he picked me up at the condo, we went over to the Gesu. As all the parking slots at the dorm were filled, we ended up in front of the J.R. Better, actually. It's a bit farther to the Gesu from there than from the dorm, but Ateneo's just breathtaking on Sundays, especially now that everything's just sparkling green, and it's not scorching hot anymore. Mass was ok. Fr. Mac's homily was comme ci comme ca. I usually prefer the Filipino Jesuits. There were more people last Sunday than at the previous alumni masses I've been to. Didn't see anybody familiar there though. The one thing I distinctly remember was the teeny feeling of relief-slash-comfort that I felt when I was walking back to the back of the Gesu after communion and Joven was there.
After mass, we went around Ateneo looking for fire tree seed pods / seedlings. I'm NOT kidding. Joven wanted to get one for their front yard. And he didn't want to buy daw when he could just get one for free. Well, after scouring the J.R. yard, under the tree near the gym, the one beside the SEC, and the one in between Gonzaga and Berchmans, we ended up empty-handed and famished. Funny kid. So then it was off to lunch. I couldn't think of anywhere in particular I wanted to binge, and Joven didn't want to decide, so we ended up NOT in Eastwood or Libis where he originally wanted to go. Instead, we found ourselves in good old World Topps. Katipunan. =p Blame it on my indecisiveness. Lunch was still fun though. I saw a few familiar faces from the dorm there. It's always interesting talking to Joven anyway. (Plus the fact that we had tons to talk about, as we hadn't seen each other or had a decent conversation since after Christmas.) Conversation-wise, I'd rate him around the same level as Franco and Nico. And that's pretty damn high.
An hour and a half and a bowlful of salpicao later, it was time to go home. I had to get started on Nego, and Joven had to go to a meeting in Makati. And so went my rendezvous with one of my oldest, closest and most treasured friends. Not sure when we'll see each other again, but I hope it will be very soon. I really do miss him. He's the older brother I never had and more. Well, that's life. You can't always get what you want. Tell me about it.
Lawyer by day. Sleeping lawyer by night. Incoherent. Ridiculous. Mundane. Or just plain weird.

Another result of a tax free cut
I've recently come to terms with the fact that some things, and some people, really are quite transient in nature. No matter how hard one tries to sustain some relationships, sometimes, what it seemed to be is so not what it really is, or was. Could I be more vague about it? Rhetorical question, but yes, I could try. =p
Moving on to better and brighter things... I'm going to 1st Sunday Ateneo Alumni Mass tomorrow at the Gesu with Joven. Last time I saw him was for like half a minute 2 months ago when I ran into him in Cantina. Since then, we've been out of touch. We're both busy, I guess, and our schedules don't quite match. Pardon the nostalgia, but I do miss the days when he dropped by the house every weekend. But then again, that was WAY back when we were both a lot younger. Come to think of it, I've known him since I was 9. Talk about intervening circumstances. Thirteen years' worth. Last time we seriously talked was a few days after Christmas, I think. He dropped by the house one night and we had a long conversation about family and life and all. Few days after that, silly me hitched a ride with him back to Manila and pestered him about, well, everything. Prior to that, I think the last time I talked to him was the night L.A. and I broke up. Fact. He's always been there when I needed him most. Happy happy happy. Hope everything pushes through tomorrow.
Another friend I've been out of touch with is Kiel. Since he switched jobs, I haven't really heard from him all that much. I wonder how that weirdo is doing...
Man, come to think of it, I haven't been in touch with a lot of my non-law school friends lately... But I've been trying to make up for lost time with those who happen to be in the country. Monica, last I heard, graduated from UC San Diego and is probably back in Silverton. Tildz naman is now a proud mom na. She's all the way in New Jersey though. And Dobz has gained weight since she moved to Canada. Arghh, that reminds me, Monica's birthday was last Monday...
Hmm... Mass email is the answer...

Weekend thoughts
Paraphrasing Nico, the master of euphemisms and word-twisting and word-manipulation, although I may indulge myself in stilettos, I eventually end up dreaming of the comfortable sneaker on the shelf. It may not be centerfold material, and it may not be all that exciting, but it's comfortable, and at the end of the day, I'm happy.
On recent events... As much as girls are so doomed, having to deal with guys as members of the opposite sex, a lot of guys are also so malas, having to deal with psychotic episodes of some girls, like a couple of people I happen to be friends with. Oh gawd, the horror. As for me, I'm even more doomed, as I have to deal with both warring parties. Sometimes it sucks to be me.

Post Hotel Rwanda bleeh blah bloooh blech
Uber stressful movie, but really good. Have to go see it again though. I think tumaas nanaman grade ng eyes ko. Talk about racism, from the back of the classroom, I could only tell whether the actors were black or white! Gawd. This is bad. Really bad.
Movie afterthought: Yes, I'm a bit of a racist like everyone else I know, but not to the point of genocide.
Anyway, lucky lucky day, I didn't get called for class. Although I did wake up feeling really sucky this morning. I had this godawful blood and gore dream involving samurai guys on horseback and full gear (Think The Last Samurai minus Tom Cruise.). The last scene involved a delivered dish, some sort of meat concoction. I was with 2 other girls, and when they lifted the lid off the pot, they started bawling like crazy, and I kinda had this incredulous look on my face which basically said WHA?!!! And then I woke up and realized I had yet to write my digest for PIL AND study for Nego AND that awful awful PIL.
Reminder: Buy a rubber flopper. Apparently, that's what the rubber stopper thing in the toilet tank is called. We're paying more for water now than for electricity, all because of a leaky tank. Horrible!
So anyway, I'm here playing on my roommate's paranoia about my self-actualization practices. (or more appropriately, NON-PRACTICE. Yet another awful thing. Haha! Well, that's life.) (Thanks for the term Marie! See, I give credit when it's due, and to whom it's due. IPL! Harhar! As if!) Self-actualization. Hey Marie, that's my goal for the year. Haha!
So there. Back to work. We're having Teddy Te tomorrow. Evidence and Succession. Hope I don't end up narcoleptic again like last week. Gotta get some sleep.

More rainy day blah
The world is against me. I just confirmed it earlier today. For the nth time, I was the first one who got called for yet another class, this time Tax 1. It was ok naman, I mean, it wasn't brilliant, but I wasn't a complete and total 'tard either. It's just such a shitty thing to be the first one in the hot seat. For the past 2 years I've been in law school, I've never been the first victim or the initial sacrificial lamb. My fate has been dramatically altered. Now I'm THE honorary bitchslapped guinea pig for the law school gods. Murphy's Law gone wild, I tell you. Gawd, the horror of it all. Jude Ocampo's kid was really cute though. 7 months. The epitome of innocence. Sigh. Wonder how my baby brother is doing. He may have learned a few more words since the last time I was there. I've been trying to teach him to say schmuck... Seems too much for the teeny tiny little kiddo though.
Hah. There's this really big dense dark raincloud hanging over my head. Almost literally. I mean, I can almost sense the thunder and lightning building up around there. And this is SO not PMS. And don't even bother to ask why, as I won't bother with the details. As for the raincloud, it's been lingering over my existence for a couple of weeks now and is showing no sign of even skidding an inch to the left or to the right, or wherever else but here. Gawd. It's just NOT the season to be jolly. And a lot of my friends are in the same downcycle. So put two and two together, and you get a tornado-infested -slash- thunder-and-lightning -slash- hurricane-ridden minefield of sorrow and despair and law school and Winlaw and argggh!!! When will it ever end?!! Add all THAT to the ambivalence of this freak I've been hung up on for the longest time, it all adds up to pure and simple insanity. It's one of those days when I could just curl up under my blanket and sleep for eternity, never crawl out from under my sheets, and never even dream or wish to see the light of day. And that is exactly what I plan to do in a few minutes after I take a good long cold shower. (Happy thought: I bought myself another bottle of lotion. My personal space in the condo is now a veritable lotion and cologne and body wash and everything else partay. Note that I can scrimp on food and fare and clothes but not on lotion and all that.)
God knows I could use a beer or two, a good long sigh, a good long cry, a good long laugh, a good long shout/scream, a pair of boxing gloves and someone to beat up. All this pent up shit (though not literally, mind you) is getting to me. I need to get it all out. Have to get everything over and done with. And when it's over, I'll go fly a kite in Ateneo til kingdom come. When all hell breaks loose, I'll bear the brunt of it, drown in the blows and come out laughing. Sigh. I just want to be happy again. I miss those days when I was on a natural high in the midst of finals week and all. I swear, these days will be the death of me.

I wouldn't call it that exactly... It's too soon and too much of an exaggeration.

While you guys were in Transpo class...
Now I know browsing through Friendster was not a good idea. I'm in an oddly nostalgic state tuloy.
I've been getting in touch again with friends from way back. I'm talking Kindergarten, grade school, high school, WAY back. It's fascinating how much people can change in a few years. But it's sad that I've missed out on so much. As have they. And these are people I remember sharing really good moments with. People who bore witness to some of my worst and most embarrassing scenes. (Gawd.) And people I remember having shared so much of my life with. I know, I know, I'm being impossible again. But hey, it's raining outside. I have an excuse.
I just realized how many people I've NOT been seeing. Cutting someone off from my life, I inevitably and understandably ended up shutting out so many other people whom I'd much rather have back. It was a difficult choice I had to make, and may I add, took me a good couple of months to to decide on, and looking back, I know I was right to do what I did. I can't say life is much better now, but I'd have to admit I got a good end of THAT deal in the end. Well, in the objective sense, at least. All the "what-if" scenarios still cross my mind once in a long drawn-out while though. My friends are going to kill me for saying that. But hey, that's how it is. My life now is so different from what it was then I could be living in an entirely different universe. New friends. New school. New condo. New guy? Haha! I wish! I don't know WHAT it is exactly. This whole dating and relationship management thing is a huge hassle if there ever was one.

My first cut
Today marked yet another milestone in my law school life. Today, I cut class for the first time this sem. Hehe! After suffering the sweltering heat and humidity in Sta.Ana yesterday in Succession class with Danny Con, I decided to forego the agony today in exchange for a leisurely day lounging around the condo. Well, not really. But Transpo's a cuttable class anyway. Plan for today: check my mail, update my blog, rewrite my Succession notes from yesterday (ugly, ugly handwriting attributable to my momentary narcolepsy), review for Tax, and whatever else I can fit in without compromising my state of mind.

Gloomy day...
After yet another extra long hiatus from my rambling, I'm back. If that's considered a good thing.
Today was just one of those days, if you know what I mean. I slept around 4am after an extra long cold shower to clear my head. I again did not wake up to my alarm, as usual, but I did, by some sort of divine intervention, wake up in time to prepare to go to school for this week's Winlaw officers' meeting. Do not even bother to ask. I was so lost in my thoughts today it cost me a good 90 bucks to get to school. Note that it usually costs just 50, so you can just imagine how long I spaced out and how often. I finally got to school after getting lost around UP and missing the left/right turns a couple of times, all the while getting stuck in horrendous traffic every couple of minutes. After the meeting, I headed off to Transpo class with Avila. I WAS prepared but as I had yet to submit my class card, I didn't get called. Bummer. After that, it was another couple of minutes at the lib getting Franco's reviewers and the tons of stuff I had photocopied which I HOPEFULLY WILL get to read over the sem. The free food from the Portians did nothing to ease the gloom. Then there was the G.A. Then dinner with my barkada. Saw Noel in Ken Afford. First time in a very long time, may I just add. I wonder how those guys are doing.
So there. I'm just checking my mail now before I head over to some coffee shop with Nico to study for Tax class tomorrow.
By the way, I've been spending long hours mutating in the lib lately. Due to some sort of divine intervention, I am now capable of studying in that stinky lib. Smells like my grandmother's baul, hypothetically speaking. I haven't seen that thing in a few years. And Mama only keeps it because it's really old. So anyway, weird eh? I have my motivations and hidden agenda. Most of which concerns last years miserably embarassingly low grades. I could just crawl under a rock and die of shame right now. Sophomore year has never been a good year for me in terms of grades. It has always been my lowest point. Really. Check my high school report card and my college transcript. Dismal. Abysmal. Swearable to high heavens. Bad bad bad.
Oh well. That's the end of this set. Maybe tomorrow, if I have time. Please cheer me up. Really badly in need of a good laugh and a good smile. Or maybe just a good long sigh.

Updates
I was reading through my previous posts and noticed that I've forgotten to mention that I WAS able to fly a kite. =) Quite successfully, in fact. Does 6 hours merit a round of applause? Hehe! Can't remember the date though. I just remember it was the night of the Ateneo Seniors' Blue Roast because the fireworks were as usual, really nice. I'm a sucker for stuff like that. Tried to go kite-flying again the day before I started working but the kite wouldn't cooperate so I ended up watching a movie instead. Not bad either. I was under the impression Finding Neverland was just another Peter Pan movie. I was sooooo wrong.
Anyway, school starts tomorrow... God oh God...
Lotsa kuwento but I'll save it for my next post. I've gotta go pick up my laundry. Yep, back to reality.

I'm baaaaaaaccccccccckkkk!!!
Whoa. Didn't realize it's been almost 2 months since my last post. Grabe, so much has happened I have no idea where to start.
Well, for starters, seems I passed CivPro. Didn't get such a fantastic grade though... Darn. Not finishing the pleadings cost me the difference between a 2 and a 2.25. Oh well. That's what I get for cramming. The rest of our grades aren't out yet. I got a text from Nico a few days ago that all our blockmates passed Avena. Yay!!!
The afternoon after I passed our Labor paper, I headed off for Tagaytay with Leo, Kri, Franco, Kip and Toti. Trip was comme ci comme ca. Finals had taken their toll on my mood, and I was not very up and about. After that, I bummed around the condo for a couple of days before I started working.
As for work, well, let's just say I should get compensated just for getting there in one piece. Public transportation in this country redefines the entire concept of personal space, I tell you. My ass suffered through more than one close encounter with a few too many curious hands on my first day reacquainting myself with REAL honest to goodness commuting. Talk about harassment! By the time I got to the office Monday morning, I was just about ready to quit. Monday night, I ended up on the wrong side of Aurora when I got out of the LRT station, and with no pedestrian lane in sight, I ended up taking a cab home. Cost me a good 60 bucks. Tuesday, I tried out a new commute route c/o Paul and got lost in the process and arrived at the office an hour late. Good thing they're not so strict about what time people get there. Wednesday, I got home safe and sound, and ended up drinking with Chi and Lorraine in Cantina. God knows I needed a beer or two. We're being assigned so much work at the office I was almost ready to jump off the penthouse. Thursday, I got lost on my way home. I had just familiarized myself with my commute route, and I wasn't as yet ready to try out the permutations of commuting. So anyway, I left the office around 8 or 8:30 after finishing up with a memo JVP asked me to do. By the time I got off the MRT in Cubao, Gateway was closed, and I had no idea how to get to the LRT, or whether or not it was still open. Well, stupid me, I decided to explore the wonders of the area to try and figure out how to get to the LRT. As it turned out, it wasn't such a good idea. So there I was trudging along the stretch of Aurora in my stilettos searching for that godforsaken LRT station when I realized it was getting darker with every step. The people were looking scarier too. Then it dawned on me that I was wearing my pearls and all. I decided to head back to the more civilized section and took a cab home. When Friday came along, I was ecstatic! I had dinner plans with Chi and Ngangi, and by 5:30, I was high with anticipation of the upcoming weekend. But I was so not meant to leave the office at the designated end-of-the-working-day time of 6pm. (I'm supposed to work from 9am to 6pm, but lately, it's been more like 9am-8pm.) I was packing my stuff up when JVP dropped by the room (Yes, we have a room. Previously occupied by a Junior Associate, called a JA, with the initials VFM.) and asked me to revise the memo, editing out the lawyery-sounding shit and replace them with more normal-sounding terms. In his words, the people who would be reading the memo aren't lawyers, so there went my entire discourse on a petition for prohibition under Rule 65... And 2 hours of my day. I ended up going to North Park at 8.
I've been working as an intern at Picazo for a week now, and it's been, uh, very challenging, to say the least. It' s been one hell of a long week. Good thing I'm not the only intern there. I met this guy Paul from Ateneo Law, and we've been ranting about work every day since we met. And he smokes, thank goodness! It's a very interesting job though. Good news is I realized I'm not that old. I'm the youngest person in the entire firm!!! Bad news is I just realized what life in a law firm is like. It's hell, I tell you. I will never complain about not having anything to do ever again.
Oh, and Chi's leaving for Cebu tomorrow morning on the 9:30am PAL flight. So Lorraine and I will be the only ones in the condo til then. Well, Kri's coming back around May 7th or so, but still, I'll be without the company of my closest friend and partner in crime for almost a month!!! Gawd!!! How will I survive!!! My yosi break buddy will be in an entirely different island group!!! Oh well...
On another note, I just got back from mass and dinner with Lorraine. I'm such a pig. And I wonder why I've been gaining weight. Anyway, what I wanted to say was it's so weird but it really does give me a certain sense of security that there's a pope again.
Well, so there. I'll see if I can sneak a post this week. There's a new intern starting tomorrow, so I guess there'll be less work for me and Paul. I hope!!! Oh, I'll be wearing a suit tomorrow. Hehe! I'll be proxying for someone at this condominium members meeting thingie with Marose, Apple and Paul tomorrow morning. Wish me luck... Still have to go over that script thing. We're facilitating, see, as the other people there, according to Marose, aren't all that familiar with the procedure etc.
Lastly, I extremely detest the use of 3-letter acronyms instead of people's names. I am not a 3-letter word!!! Well, not yet, anyway. Since I'm just an intern and not really working for Picazo (although I have a room, a memo pad, note pad, pen, pencil and yellow pad, and a paycheck tomorrow---Yay!!!), people call me by my first name. But hey, I have a name. Please use it.

Spent but happy =) Haha! Nothing bastos.
Ahh... Well now. Since yesterday's post, life certainly has been more interesting than normal. Hehe!
Last night was Daisy's birthday treat. Jen, Chi, Nico, Oggs, Lianne, Mia, Daisy and I, being the pigs that we are, devoured the Gerry's feast like there was no tomorrow. I am not kidding. It was a wrestling match for the last piece of laing and the teeniest bit of chicken. After we were done, the table looked like two dozen 200-pound Vikings who had just come home from raids had decided to drop by for a quick fix. And that was SO not the end of the affair. We all went home for a while but Jen, Chi and I had Inihaw Rep drinking plans at 9:30 with Leo and the guys. Actually, it was more like 10 when the three of us got there, and it took the guys FOREVER to get there. They were still playing Dota in Blue Skies, see, and, well, you know the deal with guys and these video game thingies. They will NEVER get over this phase. So anyway, Chi, Jen and I had a couple of beers with J.P., Leo, Troy, Marlon, Kris (Troy and JP's friend from high school---Sacred Heart School for High Boys daw. Hehe!), and A.R. (who got there really late). I texted Franco but he decided to pass muna. So anyway, I think I got home at 3 or thereabouts, took a shower, set my alarm for 6:30 and slept.
Sorry, did anybody say alarm? What alarm? Hah. Apparently, my phone somehow got buried under my pillows, and I totally dozed through my alarm and 10 reminders every 5 minutes, and at maximum volume too. It's takes talent to do that, I swear! Anyway, embarrassing though it may be, I wasn't able to meet up with Franco, A.R. and Reena in school as we originally planned. They had to wait like 20 minutes while I took a marathon shower. Again. Second day in a row that I wasn't able to dry my hair. Darn. I looked like a drowned rat again today. So anyway, when I finally ran downstairs, we went to the Pansol Barangay Hall to observe Lupon hearings for CivPro. None of us had been there before, so it was field trip day. Felt like we weren't just 5 minutes away from Katipunan. It's one of those not-so-well-off areas where people dwindle away their free time just making tambay around, which, according to A.R. encourages criminal activity. Or was it Franco. I really can't remember. I'm so sleepy right now. My eyes are just about to fall out of their respective sockets. So anyway, there weren't any hearings scheduled for this morning, so we just interviewed the lupon members. After THAT trip, we went on yet another excursion, this time, to that place I call home: ATENEO. After an excruciatingly long respite from cholesterol (Yeah right. Who am I kidding?), I finally got to devour inihaw na liempo over at Manang's. Yay yay yay!!! Yum yum!!! Cholesterol fest!!! Haha!!! Too bad Reena was on a diet and just had fish and veggies. Well, Francesco, A.R. and I binged like crazy. Well, as for Francesco, it really doesn't matter as he's so thin. Well, wiry, according to him. (By the way, words for the day from Mr.Britanico: ESOTERIC and ADROIT. Who else can pull THOSE words off in a normal sentence?) Anyway, after brunch, we dragged Reena around campus for a senti walk. Gonzaga, EDSA Walk, Xavier Hall, Kostka, Colayco, the Quad, Faura, Dela Costa, SocSci, Eagle's Park, SOM, CTC, SEC, the Cafe, and, well, the parking lots, the High School (while pointing over one's shoulder). Post-senti walk, A.R. dropped us off at Malcolm, and Reena went off to the Portia Room, and Franco and I agreed to meet at the Lounge after freshening up. (VERY HOT DAY.)
Francesco is a VERY good conversationalist. I mean really. He's one of those people who seems to have preserved the long lost art of good conversation. And the vocabulary! Man oh man oh man! I swear to God, he recites the entire dictionary every hour. I am not kidding. Who else says ESOTERIC and ADROIT in a normal sentence with a straight face? Well, in any case, I again had a very interesting albeit intermittent conversation with Franco in Mocha Blends earlier interspersed with studying for Credit and CivPro. We left for Ateneo a few minutes after JP and Yang arrived and went over to Bel to get my diploma. That thing is BIIIIIIIG, I tell you. And it's in Latin. Can't even remember what the Latin translation of Legal Management is. I just remember the last word's NEGOTIORUM. Well, in any case, I wasn't able to claim it yet. I had to pay doc stamp tax (P15, which according to Leo and JP, I shouldn't pay because diplomas are exempt from doc stamp taxes), but when Franco and I got to Xavier, the line was so fucking long! Blame it on Ateneans and cramming everything. Oh well. Can't complain about cramming. It's a talent. So anyway... With nothing more to busy ourselves with, Franco and I searched the vendos, caf down and Cervini caf for C2 but ended up empty-handed so he bought Gatorade instead then we finally got down to business and went kite-flying. Well, we tried. An hour or two earlier, the wind was perfect for flying a kite, but it was scorching hot, so we put it off for a while. When the sun was kinder on us, mere mortals prone to sunburn and skin cancer, the wind had gone. And I mean GONE. We tried the soccer field at the back of the SOM, the space beside the MO, and finally the field beside Moro, but even after all the running around Franco did, the kite, cute though it was, just refused to fly for more than 15 seconds. There was absolutely no wind. Not even a slight breeze. According to Francesco, even the trees looked bored. Even the clouds weren't moving. Everything was absolutely still, like the earth had stopped revolving or something. Oh well. But I will fly a kite before the school year ends it if kills me. Or Franco for that matter. Hehe! Well, we gave up after a dozen attempts at getting that damned kite to fly and sat down dejectedly under a tree until A.R. and Reena came to pick us up a bit past 6. Again, VERY interesting conversation. Like listening to the encyclopedia. In a good way though. =) I learned quite a few bits of trivia today. BUT as I'm just about ready to nap away, I'll enumerate some other time. Anyhoo, after dinner in Kamirori and a short trip to Aeon Books, the four of us finally got to do the lupon thing over in Park 9. Juicy juicy juicy. Soap opera material. Details to follow na lang though.
I went home for a while then studied for a while in Mocha Blends with JP and Leo before they left to drink with Troy and Kris in Tribu then play Dota. Again. As for me, I had to pass due to my worsening state of sleepiness.
Oh yeah, one last thing. I'm going to Tagaytay tomorrow!!! Yay!!! Good night!!!
And that was Wednesday.
I finally got a good and LONG rest yesterday. I slept at 5am Wednesday morning after a couple of hours' worth of tinkering with the computer, then finally mustered up the strength to get up at 2. In the afternoon. After a quick shower, okay, not so quick. To rephrase, after taking another one of my long baths (READ: one to two hours), I headed out to get some real work done after having slept through most of the day. I was supposed to study in SBC but it was packed, so I decided to go to Mocha Blends instead. I wasn't expecting to see anybody familiar, but lo and behold, when I got there, it was a UP Law reunion of sorts. I ran into Marlon and his ex ex-girlfriend on the way there. (They look really good together. And they looked happy too. =) Leo, Troy, J.P., Yang, and Francesco were there. And that says it all. Hehe! I went with Kri to her final fitting for her grad dress, etcetera etcetera but I DID get some studying done. Late into the night though, I was too bored with Labor I finally gave up. As Francesco was doing some not-so-serious studying for SpecPro finals (well, not so serious by HIS terms anyway...), we ended up having a long and really interesting conversation about, well, anything. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Britanico is NOT deaf-mute. (Applause!) For the longest time, I was under the impression that he never talked save for recitation. Or orals. Anyway, by that time, Yang had left already. And Troy and Leo gave up really early. J.P. was seriously studying, so we didn't bother him with good conversation. An hour later, I went with J.P. to take Franco back to UP to get his car. As if I'd be of such good use if any horror story decided to inflict itself on us. Then when I got home, I was thrilled to find out my GenTxt card had finally arrived.
After the previous day's really long nap, I guess I can't complain that I only got 3 hours of sleep last night. I had to get up at 6:30 for court observation with Miguel, Cherry and Reena. I was able to observe a better hearing on a motion today, but I still haven't observed a summary procedure thingie and cross-examination. And the lupon thing, which I'm going to busy myself with tomorrow, if Franco deems it wise. Haha!
Anyway, hurray hurray, no more Admin and Labor forever!!! Today was the last day for both classes, and apathetic as hell as our block is, we didn't even bother to think of preparing anything for Carlots or Ma'am Daway. Well, that's why they don't really like us. But hey, that's how we are eh. We don't suck up to people, and we don't kiss ass. We're still basically intact as a block save for those who left to pursue greener pastures =p so I guess it's working out for us one way or another.
Bad news for Leo et.al. though. Their Corpo finals was moved to next week. Bad trip. Everyone was bummed. Oh well. That's law school for you.
Oh yeah, by the way, I was hanging out with Mario and Cherry kanina, and Mitch and Marie, and we were dreaming up all these really lewd stunts to pull off. Hehe! I wonder who our next victim will be... Cherry, Mario and I also passed an hour here in the lib checking out interesting Friendster pics and weird sites, and Google-ing our names. That, my friends, is called boredom with a capital B. As for me, I have half an hour more to waste away until free dinner courtesy of Daisy's 22nd birthday. We're waiting for Nico, Jen and Mia to get out of hell a.k.a CivPro with Ma'am Avena, who incidentally is going to be our Evidence professor next sem, or so I hear. I'm so dead. So anyway, tummy grumbling. I think I'm going.

My longest post so far
I just put my affairs in order. =p I arranged my digests, shoes, cases, laundry, bed, books, etc. Not that they needed arranging. More like re-arranging. For a change.
So anyway…
Monday started out pretty dull. We didn’t have Credit. I got a text Sunday night that Buddy had a hearing in Bulacan or wherever. So I woke up at 11 to get ready for CivPro and left at 12:30 after a LOOOOONG shower. I got to school a bit before 1. Note that class was supposed to begin at 12, but please bear in mind that Sir Te is even more prone to tardiness than I am, which is to say that he’s almost always late. As for me, I just really have trouble waking up for class. Well, actually, it’s more like a getting-out-of-bed crisis. My love affair with my pillows and my bed seems to be getting more serious every sem… Seriously. Besides, my day begins at 12 or 1 and ends at 5, i.e. 12 or 1pm and 5am respectively. So back to my story… Sir Te was predictably late, and class started at 1:30 so I amused myself with the Cosmo March edition Bheng gave me. Lucky me we got dismissed early, i.e. on time, so I didn’t have to explain to Ma’am Daway that I’d come from CivPro. As for Labor, well, let’s just say that the doodles in my reviewer speak louder than words. I swear, that class will be the death of me. And my reviewer cannot be lent out to anyone for fear of retaliation from the victims of my boredom-incited wrath. I was so happy when class finally ended. I had a quick snack before heading to the lib to get copies of the cases I couldn’t find in Alan’s pile. I wasn’t quite willing to go home yet, i.e. tinatamad akong mag-commute (Understandably so, given the inconvenience.), so I stayed in the lib a bit longer than I usually do. Now in the midst of this tirade, I’ll segue to a section on commuting and on the lib…
First things first. For some reason I can’t completely comprehend, I’ve developed a dislike for commuting. I never LOVED it, mind you (I just wanted to use that phrase. Mind you. It’s so cute. Hehe!), but I used to have a fairly functional relationship with public transportation. I’ve never owned a car (And at the rate I’m going, it’s going to be a LOOOOOONG time before I get to own one. I do have a deal with my dad, but I don’t want to think about it until everything’s ready.), and since I’ve been dorming/renting an apartment for the past 6 years, duh?!! How else am I supposed to travel? Especially now that I’m single and no longer have a boyfriend to bully. (Haha!) He volunteered naman! I WAS a good girlfriend, although I did have my moments of insanity, i.e. PMS-ing really bad, picking fights when we hadn’t fought for a while---which really bothered me. Blame it on my fear of stagnation… So anyway, as I was saying… Let me just modify the topic sentence of this particular paragraph. The reasons I formerly thought I couldn’t comprehend are (1) I haven’t been commuting (besides taking a cab) much lately, as my life has really been restricted to the Quezon City area, and I’ve been hitching rides with friends, (2) The scorching summer heat has started, and I hate heat, (3) I was stressing over the Winlaw Ball the last time I really commuted. So there.
Second point. As to the lib, I’ve never been comfortable there for some reason. It’s one place where I can’t seem to get any serious studying done. I can concentrate better amidst the Starbucks/SBC/Mocha Blends/San Fran/McCafe/McDonald’s buzz. Unlike Alan who seems to have acquired official title and permanent residence at this out-of-the way first floor table, and Mario who has a permanent seat at the third table from the door, also at the first floor. I liked the Ateneo lib when I was in college though. I don’t know. Law school changed a lot of things.
Back to my narrative… By the time I kinda wanted to go home already, it was dark outside and my fear of walking around UP at night had set in, so I made arrangements to hitch a ride home with CJ at 7. And so I quit reading for Admin and went to Ate Evelyn’s =p to check my mail. Thus my last post. Rich, Marie, Mitch and I hitched with CJ. I got home sometime around the middle of TV Patrol, spent a few moments rekindling my romance with my bed then had dinner with Lorraine in Chiggy’s. Then I got a text from Leo that they were studying in SBC. I WAS planning to study out anyway, and I get really miserable studying---especially studying out---alone (I feel like I’m the only one suffering, and everyone else is just hanging out.), so I decided to join their “study group”. Leo and J.P were studying for Corpo finals, so I was psyching myself to behave and not to bother anyone. But lo and behold, someone else was doing the bothering---Mr. Enerio, that suicidal maniac of a driver. After an hour and a half of talk and the first few Admin cases, we finally gave up studying and headed over to Troy’s for champagne. Yuck, cultured worms ba?!! Hehe! As it turned out, there was just one bottle of champagne for the 5 of us. Bitin. So after watching Sex and the City and that Meatloaf video (I would do anything for love), we decided to have a couple of beers over at Meatshop. Incidentally, that Meatloaf song has been playing in my head all day. So anyway, we ended up in Cantina instead of Meatshop. And then all hell broke loose. Just kidding. What I meant was “and then I saw my ex.”
Pertinent backtrack fact: Lately, I’ve been seeing things, by which I mean I’ve been saying hi to people I thought I knew but up close turned out NOT to be the ones I know, just look-alikes. It’s embarrassing, I tell you. ‘Happened like five times last week.
…So when I was standing with JP and Leo looking for a table (A.R. was changing in the car. He just came from the gym daw kasi, and, well, go figure what he was wearing. Troy was talking to someone on the phone.), and I saw two guys who were waving at me, I stared for a long time trying to figure out who they were. I told Leo and J.P., I think nandiyan ex ko but I’m not sure, di ko na maalala face niya… I know, I’m so mean, but really, I honestly couldn’t remember what he looked like. Which is weird, because I just saw him a few days after my birthday when he dropped by to give me my pecan pie birthday present. So I stared and eventually figured out that the two guys were L.A. (my ex) and Robbie (a common friend of ours) and waved back. Really small wave, just to be safe. I mean, if it wasn’t them, then I’d pretend I was just stretching my arm. =p Well, we finally got a table, and my ex came over to say hi and drone on about the fight thing they staged at his house Saturday night. I really didn’t want to hear about it, and according to JP, I seemed really disinterested and started looking for other people to say hi to. Haha! Oh well. I didn’t realize I did that. Lenny was also there with the T.A. people. So we all sat down and had a couple of beers, I introduced my ex to Leo et.al., blah blah, then L.A. and Robbie left, Kri joined us later on when Bam et.al. went home.
By the end of our drinking session, I was really tipsy. I wanted to get my act together before I went home so I went with Troy and Leo to eat. Well, THEY ate. I just sat quietly on the little stool pondering on blah blah blah blah blah. I got home around 3, and predictably, Chi gave me another long sermon on the mount. I swear, she’s turning into an instant sermon machine. But she means well, and I’m used to her extra long tirades when it comes to anything even remotely concerning my ex anyway. And that was Monday.
Tuesday came and went in a flash. Well, not really. I woke up at 11 to get ready for class, but at the last minute decided to cut Admin. See, I got out of the shower at 12:30, and class was supposed to begin at 12:30. BUT, like most professors, Carlots is consistently 30 minutes late, and insists that the classroom time is wrong, so I had half an hour of leeway. And then I decided to dry my hair. And that was the end of my attempt to go to Admin class. I just went to the lib to study. I was surprisingly productive, actually. Thanks for bullying me, Mario! =) Hehe! I love that guy. He’s the sweetest. AND he has the second-nicest ass in law school. Anyhoo, I’m done studying for Admin. Again, thanks to Mario. And as a reward, we went to the shopping center to eat at Rodic’s and had ice cream on the way back to Malcolm. Yum yum! I can’t remember the last time I ate there. Oh, and I finally replenished my Kleenex supply! =)
As always, Tuesday was relatively uneventful. I was in school the whole day but didn’t go to class. I cut Admin, and although I intended to go to Property, Labits didn’t show up, and by 7:30 (and the class was supposed to be from 6 to 8), we all decided to forego the whole formality. By the way, Portia was showing Eurotrip earlier. Funny movie. It was just weird seeing it in school. And so I hitched a ride home with Punch and Chi and joined Leo and JP in Mocha Blends. Again, I didn’t talk unless they talked to me. See, I’m a good study buddy. I distract myself, not other people. Hehe! We called it a night around 11. I again renewed my vows with my bed watching the evening news then put my affairs in order, amused myself with the new programs I unearthed a few days ago, and now this. So there.
Tentative plans for the weekend: (1) Puerto Galera with Ate Shirley, and/or (2) Tagaytay. =) Emphasis on TENTATIVE. (Underlined, italicized and in bold letters) I hope at least one pushes through.
ON OTHER MATTERS…
FIRST. Why do I always get into trouble because of stuff I write? I just found out that at least two people were offended by one of my comments. Oh well. Whatever. I say what I mean, and if people don’t like it, fine. It’s a free country.
SECOND. I’m still on an unnaturally natural high. It’s so weird. Kinikilig ako sa weather kanina…
THIRD.
WARNING: The following paragraphs contain really serious personal stuff.
There are some people that make such an impact on other people’s lives that they don’t have to stay long to make things happen.
My mom would be turning 50 on the 28th if she were alive. I miss her. I wonder sometimes how life would be if things had turned out differently. It’s been 12 years since she died, and I’ve lived more than half my life without her, but Mommy will always be Mommy. It’s at this age that we’re supposed to be buddies, and it’s sad that I never got the chance to sit down with her and talk to her when I was growing up. I lost her a few days before I turned 10, and I was hardly what you’d call mature. I guess I’m just lucky I’m a self-raising child (Just add hot water.). I seem to have turned out pretty well… I mean, I’ve always been the responsible one. Really. I’m not kidding. I never gave my dad any problems. Well, nothing major, anyway. Just a few minor tiffs. I’m still single, much to my dad’s relief. I don’t have any kids, illegitimate, legitimated or legitimate. I’ve never done drugs. I drink and I smoke, but that’s it. My dad doesn’t know that I smoke though. He gave me a REALLLLY long lecture when I told him that I had TRIED smoking. So anyway.
It’s just that I’m 22, and I need her, but I know it’s hopeless. There are so many things I wish I’d said, or I wish I’d done for her, or I wish we’d done together. She never saw me graduate, except from kindergarten, which doesn’t really count. I never got to go home at the end of the sem and show her my grades. We never got to go shopping or have coffee together.
It still pains me to remember that morning when I woke up and she was gone. It’s just one of those days I’d much rather forget. From that point on, life was never be the same. From that point on, I was no longer a child.
I’m just really lucky that although my mom didn’t stay very long, her time with us was well-spent. The memories she left us will last me a lifetime and more. I know my mom was no saint, but everyone loved her. I loved her. And I still do. The less than ten years I had with her made me.
Well, this is how it is, and nothing and nobody can change how things are. I’m happy with where I am and with who I am now. I think. But sometimes, I can’t help but wonder how it would be if I could call her up at the end of the day.
Well, it’s 5am. And so my day ends.
So anyway…

Friendster survey thingie.
1. You are mostly known as?
Grace, Gracie, Gracia, Evil evil evil (Hahaha!)
2. Most people think you are?
Evil. But I'm SOOOOO not. I think I'm a good friend naman but I can be really apathetic, which to some people is evil. And I quote my profile which says -ahem- "I admit I'm very picky when it comes to my friends and the people I hang out with. Call me a snob or whatever, and I'll accept it as a compliment. I'm so mean, or so apathetic, to people I don't like or couldn't care less about but when I love, I love. And that's it. I'm very loyal to the people I care about, sometimes even to a fault." Nuf said.
3. Do you believe in soulmates?
Yep. I'll give the concept the benefit of the doubt. ;p
4. Do you think love is always enough?
Well now. Speaking from experience, I KNOW love is not enough. It takes a great deal of commitment and, well, balls, to make a relationship work.

6. Are you still friends with your ex/s?

7. Unforgettable letters that you received?

One last thing...
We've confirmed that ex-Evil Bitch is no longer Mother Superior.
On another note, we're all civil now. Things will never be the same though. It's as if the air were tainted with some sort of spirit-damper. We talk and all, but it's just not the same. I don't know if things will ever go back to how they were before the whole war thing. And honestly, I really don't care that much. As long as she doesn't tread on my territory, we'll be fine.

Procrastination tactics in the lib - Day 4,503
Since my last post, I have managed to drive myself crazy with NOT preparing for the ball at all. In just a bit more than 24 hours, I will be making a complete and total fool out of myself in front of the UP Law community. I just wish this throat thingiemajiggie of mine would get worse and render me physically incapable of going to the ball dateless and a fashion disaster. This is my karma for all those times I've driven daggers into people whose fashion sense I couldn't fathom even in my wildest dreams. Now I have 24 hours to find a way to escape this dreadful hellhole I've dug myself into. It sucks being a girl!!! But then again I love being a girl. Oh well.
So anyway, for the record, I DID go to class yesterday, although I was desperately late for Admin because of the traffic and my overturned decision NOT to go to class. I finally dragged myself out of bed around 11:30 after I realized I had 2 digests to make. I crammed away until 12:30, took a marathon bath then tried to weave through the traffic to school. Well, not exactly. I took a cab. But when I do get a car, (hopefully by the end of law school, if everything goes well) I'll probably be a maniac on the road. Or maybe not. I don't want a driver though. I want to be the one maneuvering that scrap of metal around the city streets, hitting people and leaving roadkill everywhere. Hahaha! Just kidding. So back at the ranch (last phrase syndrome c/o A Series of Unfortunate Events Vol. 2 - The Reptile Room which I just finished, incidentally.), I got bored to death from 1 to 4. As usual. Before and after class, I had a quick snack with Mario then went to the Winlaw-sponsored career talks in Sta.Ana. Oh yeah, by the way, seems like all the 3A guys got haircuts this week. I didn't even recognize Leo yesterday. Anyway... Because of my desperate attempt to counter my innate drive NOT to go to class, I ended up contact-less, i.e. wearing glasses today, so I felt like I was hovering through Malcolm. I'm so not used to wearing glasses anymore... My only happy thought yesterday was that well, there was free food after the talk. And... -AHEM- sorry Mario, (name deleted). Res ipsa loquitur. Sigh...
Anyway, Nico, Mario and I hitched a ride to Katipunan with Jen and had dinner at Bento Box. Note: Cute little Japanese kid at the next table. =) I mean REALLY young though. After dinner, I settled down in the condo and watched the soaps on Ch.2 with my roommates then headed over to Sands' (2 doors down from the condo) to, well, procrastinate some more. Kri and I went to 7-11 to buy our supply of lung cancer inducers and snacks then we both went back to the condo to fiddle with the computers. I unearthed so many programs last night! It was fascinating! Hard to imagine how nobody knew those programs were even in there. Oh well. That's what I get when I'm bored.
And as for today, I got up at 11:30 for CivPro but I still ended up late for class. My throat still feels like hell... I think I'm getting my annual bout of tonsilitis again... Darn. I hate going to the doctor...
It's such a drag being poor.
On another note, I talked to Tito Iggy last night, and he's going to see if he can get me into Feria for internship. Yay! And I'm getting -ahem- financial support for the summer! Double yay! And if my instincts serve me right, I think I'm getting a landline along with the package. Yahoo!!! So there. I just emailed Tito Iggy and Joven my CV and the respective cover letters. I really hope everything goes well. I SO do not want to rot away at home again for 2 months.

More stuff to rant about
Well, like I said, I'm back to square one. I'm still happy though. Besides the fact that I'm so not ready for the Winlaw ball, I seem to be on an unnaturally natural high.
Since my last post, I haven't really been up to much... I spent a leisurely afternoon in Shang with Mario last Saturday after Credit. We binged so much my tummy felt like a rock after. God, the puttanesca!!! =) Well, it wasn't as good as -ahem- my erstwhile significant other's mom's puttanesca, but it was ok. I also finally rekindled my romance with Zagu after a long drawn-out LQ. Hehe! And the ice cream!!! My god, Double Dutch!!! Yum yum yum!!! Mario and I finally got to watch a movie at the new Shang cinemas. It's actually a pretty good cinema, but the prices are pretty steep... More expensive than Eastwood and Rockwell, I think. My second viewing of A Series of Unfortunate Events cost me 150. It was fun though. =) Then after a long respite from REAL honest to goodness commuting, I finally got to ride the MRT again. Hehe! Well, first of all, the farthest I'd been before our Shang trip was Eastwood. I've basically been living in the Malcolm to Eastwood area (plus a few trips around Quezon City) for 2+ months. Secondly, my definition of public transportation has alternated between taking the jeep to Malcolm and back or taking a cab to Malcolm and back. Or Eastwood. And I wonder why I'm perpetually broke... Oh well... When I got back, Kri and I had a movie marathon and made fools over ourselves crying over 13 Going On 30, sighing over the guy in Princess Diaries 2 and well, sleeping through parts of Van Helsing. Well, okay, the last one was just me. Hello?!!! It was 5am!!!
Sunday was a basically uneventful day. I slept til my head ached then I finally got to cleaning the bathroom. It's an oddly therapeutic job, but then my muscles (whatever's left of them anyway---blame it all on law school. Hehe!) still ache like hell to this very day... =p I was so spent by the time I was supposed to study so after watching Feng Shui with Kri and Ngangi, I took a nap which turned out to be a looooooooooong loooooooooooong affair with my dreams. I got up at 10 am the next day, so I ended up cutting Credit again Monday morning. I've been cutting half my classes this sem... I'm such an irresponsible student... Oh well... Anyway, Sir Te was late again for CivPro. We started at 1:30, I think. If he wasn't so damned cute, I'd strangle him! Teeheehee! Oh yeah, the legal luminaries of the world were in school yesterday afternoon. Imagine all the justices of the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, plus the Presiding Justice of the CTA, retired Supreme Court justices, Estelito Mendoza, my god, I was so starstruck! But I still got bored 5 minutes into Justice Puno's lecture so I left and had an early dinner with Punch and Chi in McDonald's. I studied in Starbucks with Kri for a while but she left din. I got home around 1:30 after a long chat with Trisha and then had a looooooooong talk with Chi. Slept for an hour then took a shower and headed over to Malcolm to meet up with A.R., Reena and Miguel for court observation.
A.R. is a suicidal maniac!!! God, with the way he drives, he'll be lucky if he gets to live past tomorrow! I'm so happy to be alive right now after hitching with him.
Anyway, I had a fun lunch with A.R. and Franco today in World Chicken. I finally got to try out the egg seat. =) Oh, and I finally got a good recit day for Admin. I almost fell asleep in the middle of it though. After class, we all (except Jen and Daisy) went over to Bento Box and I had a rootbeer float. I've been craving for one for so long!!! I attempted to watch The Bourne Supremacy but I was so sleepy I ended up taking a 5-hour nap. And now the world seems to be a better place to be in. Hehe!
Ahhh... Tomorrow's Wednesday. March 2. I have to be up by 9, in school by 10:30 to 11 for my lunch libre for the barkada in A Veneto, then at the UP Church for the Winlaw mass at 12nn... Ohmigod, the ball!!! Gag me and stuff me in the closet please!!!

For Kri
Kristine Jessah B. Remo
Yan ha, google-able ka na rin! Haha!
Yan ha, google-able ka na rin! Haha!
Back to reality...
I just got back from Eastwood a few minutes ago. Ngangi, Kri and I did a marathon of the Eastwood shops for two hours and I'm so spent na. Well anyway, I spent the whole day basically doing nothing so I don't really have any right to complain. If it's any consolation, I've seriously been studying since Saturday night. Funny nga eh, I've been STUDYING with Leo, Troy, J.P. et.al. Oh well, it's always a good thing to explore other things. Besides drinking. Kaka-insecure lang to study with J.P. and Law. They're SOOOOO into law school, I swear! It's fun though. Leo and Troy are especially fun to study with. I love distractions, and those two seem to be very good at it. I hope Leo doesn't read this kasi it's so corny, but I'm really happy I met them. Hehe! I should be paid for this na.
Anyway, everything's back to normal for me. Back to square one. Again, I've just awaken from this mistaken notion about this guy I went out with a couple of times. (Note that I don't call them dates. I'm still not quite sure WHAT they were, and I don't want to raise any eyebrows. For the record, some people say they WERE dates, but I still don't know. Maybe they were. Maybe they weren't. In any case, nothing ever became of it, so I can't say it's over because it never really began. =( ) Not much of a loss though. Well, yeah, sige, I concede, it would have been great save for the fact that well, maybe it just wasn't the right time for either of us. I'm not saying never though. The few times we went out were all fun, and if he ever does ask again, I'd go in a heartbeat. At the very least, I think I found a good friend in him. Or at least I hope so. It's just that he's been my main distraction for so long, and, well, it's just sad...
Sometimes I hate being a girl. So many things can be prone to so many interpretations and hairsplitting distinctions about whether or not this or that thing meant something or if it was just nothing. It's especially difficult when people start making all these interpretations about something already so confusing. Well, at least this one didn't drag on for so long. Better to cut my losses this early in the game than to find myself again having invested so much but having reaped so little. I don't want to be the one getting the short end of the bargain this time around. I'm so sick and tired of that.
So there. I'm still happy though. I seem to be high on something, although I've never tried anything even remotely illegal. Kri, Ngangi and I are going back to the condo in a while to have a couple of beers before studying. Well, I'm studying, Ngangi's writing 3 papers, and Kri's doing her laundry. Welcome to my life.

And the rest of my thoughts for the day...
| For some weird reason I don't want to identify for fear it might dissipate, I've been really happy lately. Maybe it's because I've just realized that my social circle hasn't really stagnated. It's always fun to meet new people. Not that I have any complaints about my present circle, minus the new people, other than the fact that my barkada doesn't generally drink. So anyway, our hard work paid off. (1) We made around P8,000 net from the Winlaw Valentine's Day Rose Sale. Yay! (2) Charles and Oggs won as LSG Treasurer and Secretary respectively. (3) I'm next year's Winlaw VP for Finance. Although I'm not quite sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing... (4) I passed Credit midterms. BUT I got lower than I expected. Well, that's law school for you... Oh yeah, my erstwhile significant other gave me pecan pie for my birthday. La lang. Ah, and it's Day 5 of the war. The beeeyotch is STILL not talking to us AND giving us the brow treatment et.al. The nerve! Little dwende! Madam Auring's vaginal yeast! Ewwww!!! (quoting Kri) Hay nako, I swear to God, I'll have her deported to her little hellhole soon. Freak of nature! Hah! And so here I am again. Still procrastinating. Well, not really. The boredom has once again set in. I'm still trying to bully people into drinking tonight but the Spec Pro midterm exam seems to have taken its toll on my drinking buddies. Harrumph! =p Shame on you guys! Oh well... Oh yeah, Sigh Guy has been perenially absent from my direct line of vision for the longest time. Hmph. Kainis. Still not sure if there's something there... In any case, I'm just having good CLEAN fun here, so there's no harm done there. Just innocent little glances here and there. My friends are having a heart attack na because of all my kuwento. It's so high school, I swear! Argggh! The text I just received shattered all my potential plans. Nobody wants to go out. =( Oh well. Guess I'm spending tonight watching stupid soaps again. Sigh! |
Post-22nd birthday ramblings
| That's weird. I was under the impression I managed to post something after my birthday... Anyway, I guess the internet connection went bonkers again... Anyway, my 22nd birthday was the best I've had by far. 22's the best! And I don't even give a damn that I've been -ahem- unaffiliated, for more than a year now. All is well and good. My birthday celebration began on the 16th. Incidentally, I decided to wear my white skirt to school that day. Wala lang. I just felt like being girlie. I was hanging out by myself in the lib when I had this sudden urge to edge myself closer to lung cancer (Harhar!). I had the Winlaw Flower Sale funds with me, so I couldn't leave my bag in the lib. I left my cases and reviewers there though. (This fact will prove pertinent later on. =p) So I skipped out of the lib and amused myself with the people passing by the lib steps and chatted with Sands and Judy for a while. Just when I thought I'd have a few moments to myself to ponder on the more fundamental questions in life =p, Leo and Troy, and later Marlon, A.R. and J.P. stopped by, and I ended up having isaw with them. It's been a REALLY long time since I've had isaw, as the only person who's ever wanted to have isaw is, well, currently very distant. FYI, I'm talking about my erstwhile significant other. So anyway, I don't remember who exactly did the inviting and coercing (Who am I kidding here?), but the 5 of us (Leo, A.R., Troy, Marlon and I --- note the proper usage of the pronoun! Haha!) ended up having a few beers at the University Hotel. Note that at this point, I had every intention of going to Property class, as I skipped the previous night's session to go to the UP Fair with Mia, Lianne, Jen and Cesar. Incidentally, I thoroughly enjoyed the fair, although there was absolutely no alcohol in sight. So going back, after our 4-7pm drinking session, I took their advice and skipped class altogether. After finally deciding to meet up in Tribu (that new drinking place in the Xavierville area where we drank exactly a week before for Leo's birthday) at 11, Leo and Marlon left, and A.R. and I dropped Troy off at Malcolm. Neither of us wanted to go home just yet, so when A.R. asked if I wanted to have dinner, I said sure. Why not? We were supposed to go to Kamirori, as I've been craving for raw fish (Haha!) for the longest time, but since he wasn't able to withdraw from BPI, and reiterated once and again that he absolutely loved the Citibank in Libis, we ended up having dinner in Sushi Ya Libis til 10. By the time we remembered that I had left my CivPro and Labor stuff in the lib, it was 10, and the lib was closed and Malcolm Hall was absolutely deserted. There went my lunch, and my school stuff. And so A.R. and I ended up driving around Quezon City. It was so spontaneous and so fun. Funny thought: My blockmates and I always thought A.R. was Charles Veloso. Hehe! Oh well. Guess not. So anyway, we finally gave up the whole driving thing a few minutes before 11 and decided to get settled in Tribu. But lo and behold, when we entered, it was like a law school reunion of sorts. I am NOT kidding. Apparently, R.E., Karen Simbulan et. al. (whom I just learned is Gold's friend. Small world eh?) had just come back from a volleyball game. And the teasing began. And we headed out to wait for Leo et.al. Oh well. To cut the story really short (I'm just waiting for Jen and Nico so I can hitch a ride home.) stayed in Tribu til around 2:30 then everyone except A.R. and I went home. As for the two of us, we hadn't given up on the idea of getting tipsy just yet. Actually, we never DID get anywhere near tipsy, but we had a couple of beers in Whistlestop Libis and stayed there til 7am when we finally gave up all hopes of having San Mig Light running through our veins and decided to go home. By the time I got home, it was 7:30, the sun was up, and I had less than 5 hours to go til Admin and Labor. Oh god, the horror! My birthday proper. I decided to wear that off-shoulder shirt I bought from Kamiseta and my white capris. Really cute outfit. BUT, I ended up NOT going to both Admin AND Labor. Why I even bothered to go to school, I have no idea. Well, I helped Charles and Oggs campaign, so I guess I was able to do SOMETHING. My birthday began on the 16th with beer and ended on the 17th again with beer. I swapped my white capris with my white skirt and had a nightcap in OJ's Eastwood with Marie, Mitch, Iya and Chi. The perfect end to the perfect birthday. By now, I've learned that people actually read my blog, so I might as well say thank you to everyone who celebrated my birthday with me: A.R., Leo, Troy, Marlon, J.P., Jen, Punch, Chi, Mitch, Iya, Marie, and my barkada. Thanks guys! =) I had the greatest birthday ever! |

Happy day.
First, an update.
TUESDAY, February 8, 2005
I actually went to both Admin AND Property. I dropped by PNB with Mario to break down P2000 then had lunch with Mario and Cherry in Chateau Verde. The place was great. The three of us were the only people there, and the weather was perfect! There was a little fountain thing to the side, lotsa plants, and GOOD FOOD. It's always fun hanging out with those two. Hehe!
I dropped off the letter for Danny Con then went home for a while to finish the order forms, drop off my Admin stuff and get my Property stuff before going back to school. Property was extra boring, and we ended up taking turns going out to relieve ourselves of the boredom. Sir Labitag caught me texting outside the classroom though. I hung out for a while with Marie, Mitch, CJ and Oggs, planning Oggs' campaign (and also had a bit of a tiff with Oggs about my snide comments...) before I hitched a ride home with CJ. When I got home, I just rested, slept around 3 after the usual odds and ends.
WEDNESDAY, February 9, 2005
Well. Today started out normal. Great weather still. I hitched a ride to school with Sands and Polka then started setting up with Jen for the Winlaw Valentine's Day Rose Sale. We stayed there til 1-ish then we all went our semi-separate ways. Jen went to get her car washed whereas (Haha! Whereas!) I went to Rob.East with Nico, Lianne and Oggs to see The Phantom of the Opera. I've always had a thing for musicals, so I basically loved the movie. Too bad the sound system sucked. So anyway, after that, it was back to school for us. Lianne, Jen, Marie and I went to the Winlaw G.A. Nico and Oggs went to the FGD for the Academic Reforms Committee, this, well, committee, that nobody knew existed. After lamenting the fact that I hadn't seen Almoranas (I'm referring to a person here.) the whole day and Marie had, I spotted him. Finally. And then we went to have dinner at Johnny's. Grabe, Jen, Nico and I ate a 6-person dinner! I'm such a pig! By the way, according feng shui, as today marks the beginning of the year of the wooden rooster, we aren't supposed to eat anything chicken. It's the year of the rooster, you're not supposed to EAT the rooster. Haha! Anyway, the three of us headed off to mass at the Gesu at 7. Fr. Arevalo, SJ presided, and delivered a very interesting homily on venial sin and mortal sin. Ateneo masses are always the bestest in the whole wide world. And it's not just because there are so many familiar faces.
Tito Iggy just invited me to a relative's (Mon Yenko) despedida next week, "to get to know my long lost relatives", he said. So I'll be mingling with distant relatives at the Manila Polo Club Tuesday next week. What do I wear kaya?
Anyway, I missed the soaps AND American Idol today. I fell asleep, and woke up to the sound of my phone ringing, and an unregistered number flashing. I later found out it was Leo. I ended up drinking with Leo, A.R., Troy, J.P., Marlon, Cherry, T.J. and Jen in Tribu til around 2:30 or 3am. It was so fun. Kakainggit talaga block nila, they have REAL guys, the kind that you can actually have fun drinking and hanging out with. I had like 5 beers before we called it a night there. Cherry and T.J. had already gone home earlier, and Troy and J.P. just disappeared, so it was only the four of us, me, Jen, Leo and A.R. who went over to Whistlestop for banana splits. Yum! =) I got home around 4, took a shower then actually managed to make my digest. I'm so proud.
Thursday, February 10, 2005
And that brings me to today. Well, today was pretty much uneventful. I woke up with a slight headache, but after taking a shower (by candlelight again. The light's busted.), it just went away. I went to school to set up for the Rose Sale and tried to cram for Admin and Labor. Jen and I ended up cutting Admin. We went to Labor, but knowing absolutely nada. I was just texting Mario the whole time about his phone.
And so now, I just got back from dinner with Chi, Punch, Daisy and Lianne. Pigging out again. When will I ever stop kaya?
Sad thought. Sigh Guy has a girlie daw. =( Oh well, he was too good to be for real anyway. Sayang. I really really liked him pa naman in spite of his extreme state of un-cuteness.
But then again, it's so much more of a good thing that I've been meeting new people lately. I was getting the feeling that I was stagnating. Oh well. Guess not.

Goodbye midterms!!!
Aaaahhhh... Finally!!! With both Credit and Labor midterms down, there's nowhere to go but to bed. Hehe! I really could use some sleep right now...
Another inexistent weekend passed me by. Not that I had any plans to begin with, but studying isn't exactly my favorite thing to do, weekend or no weekend. I was supposed to be up at 6 on Saturday morning to go jogging with Sands before I started studying for Credit in the afternoon and for Labor midterms. BUT when I got up at 6, I got Malou's text that we weren't going to have Credit, so I thought to myself, what the hell, might as well get as much sleep as I can WHILE I can. And so I ended up studying at 3. Hehe! I DID get SOME studying done though. I spent til 9 in SBC then I gave up and went for a long jog around Ateneo, took a shower and slept the night away.
Sunday morning I was supposed to go to the 10:30am alumni mass at the Gesu with Nico and Ngangi but when I got up at 8, it was so cold, perfect weather!!! So AGAIN, I thought to myself, what the hell, and slept til noon. I went out for lunch then spent a couple of hours studying in Starbucks with Jen, Mitch and Anna.
Oh yeah, after a long respite from church, I finally gave in to myself and went to the 5:30 mass at della Strada with Jen. The mass was okay, I mean, I'd much rather have attended the alumni mass in Ateneo, but the mass celebrant was Fr. Roche, also a Jesuit, so it was sort of Ateneo still. And then the more secular callings kicked in. I had dinner, and I mean DIIIIINNNNERRR with Jen and Nico sa Mang Jimmy's. Think 4 steaming plates of cholesterol, tons of rice plus the prohibited Coke. Ahhhh... Then it was back to Starbucks for us. Law school beckoned. I got 2 hours of sleep then headed off to school this morning.
I was lucky today though. One of the very few times I attended our Monday morning Credit class, and I got called, for MY DIGEST. Haha! I knocked the socks off Buddy Carale! Hahaha! It's so kilig talaga to have a good recit.
So anyway, after breakfast with Nico, Mia and Jen in McDo, it was back to school again. Torture cram time. I did go to CivPro, but I went out twice, once for the Winlaw picture taking for the yearbook, and the second, well, just to stretch my legs. I wasn't able to take notes kasi Sands and Law were both in front, and I couldn't hear a word they were saying. But I did get to chat with Judy et.al. They're joining our Winlaw crowd next year. =) And -ahem- well, I'll keep myself un-incriminated. Hehe!
Anyway, Labor midterms... 45 items true or false. That's always bad news in law school. But enough of that. My tummy's full c/o our post-midterm dinner in A Veneto Visayas with Punch, Chi, Jen, Daisy, Nico, Lianne, Mia, Oggs and Japee. And now I'm updating my blog before I go sleep til kingdom come.

Goodbye cruel world!
Just kidding.
Anyway, I just got back from SBC, the venue of my latest attempt to get some studying done.
After a day of binging, and I mean MAJOR binging, I indulged myself in a bit of culture, if I can call it that. I saw a play tonight, 12 Angry Women. It wasn't of T.A. caliber by any standard, but it entertaining. Sara, Sands' sister was in it, so I tagged along with Sands, Jovan and Ness to go see it tonight. 12 Angry Women was about a jury of 12 women from varying backgrounds. There was an overly made up, and continuously making up, woman whose every sentence seemed to carry her credentials as an advertising gal. Then there was the probinsyana who wanted to close the only window to the jury room, the one who seemed to never have an opinion about anything, the prude, played by Sara, the supposedly rich juror, the angsty one with a hot temper, the really class-sensitive woman from the less fortunate area, and the really thin one whom the indicted child should really kiss ass for, as she reversed the initial 11-1 vote in favor of holding her guilty to 1-11 in favor of holding her not guilty on the ground of reasonable doubt. The plot basically revolved around the deliberations leading to the verdict, and the real emotions and contextual factors that do get involved in jury discussions. It wasn't quite a break from law school. I mean, it was basically Crim all over again, but I love watching plays, so I'd have to concede on that ground. The acting was mediocre compared to T.A. but for a minor production, it was all well and good. The best part of the whole night is that I got a free slice of pizza and iced tea with my 150-peso ticket. And a bacon cheesedog sandwich, which I had to pay for.
I went straight to SBC after the play to attempt to get some studying done. In that context, I guess I accomplished my mission. I got to finish some of the stuff I'm supposed to read for Credit class tomorrow, but I finally gave up 3 minutes ago. I'm going home to take a cold shower and 5 hours of sleep. Sands is waking me up at 6am tomorrow to go jogging before breakfast and another day of studying for class, going to class, and then studying for Labor midterms. I'm so dead. Half of the coverage for Labor I never really took seriously. I really don't get it. All the cases are the same. Petitions for certification election, the incomprehensible acronyms these labor unions manage to conjure for themselves, and intra- and inter- union disputes. Why can't they all just get along so we poor law students can get some rest? Hehe! Oh well. Good luck na lang.

A series of unfortunate events
Well. Today sucked. My only happy thought was that Daddy and I talked on the phone last night. I'm actually homesick. Now isn't THAT something?
Anyway, I was supposed to go to TUCP with Nico, Lianne, Oggs and Chi but I ended up staying home til I had to leave for CivPro class because of an extremely upset stomach. I guess it was all the Dangwa food I had yesterday. It's always a bad idea to mix and match...
So after THAT, I headed over to school, dripping wet hair and all. READ: Bad hair day! There were only 18 people in CivPro class, out of the entire 41 who were supposed to be there. It just so happened that 2C had Credit midterms at 3, so more than half of them ended up cutting. I tried contacting Oggs but they were on their way to Lianne's dad's office, so I ended up sitting through CivPro alone. Well, not exactly. I shoulda taken Faye's advice and skipped class today. But NO!!! I had to be a diligent student and attend class. To cut the crap short, I got called. Of all the things that could have happened, I recited on provisions I didn't read. See, he said last Monday we'd be discussing Rules 13 and 14. I ended up reciting Rule 16 (Motion to Dismiss) with Kaka. And the thing is, neither of had had a clue about what was happening. We DID read for class, only we read the wrong Rules. I just hope I didn't look like too much of a fool in front of -ahem- HIM. Great. I'm going to flunk out of law school and that's all I can think about. It's so high school... So anyway, now I don't have notes pa. I'll have to borrow Reena's na lang.
After CivPro, I had the, um, pleasure, of putting up the posters for the Winlaw Valentine's Day Rose Sale. Well, except for the ones that are supposed to be in the guys' washrooms. I was finally able to get the Admin cases from Alan and got a particularly juicy bit of information from him. I won't even bother to mention it. Marie and I stalked this guy she likes while snacking on odds and ends from Manang Fishball. I had a couple of smokes then headed home.
Nico and Chi are starting to annoy me. They're reading too much into everything I do. Nico especially. They really need to stop taking me too seriously. I mean, if another person did the things I did, Nico would just laugh, but no! If I'm the unfortunate actor, he just takes it too damned seriously! I was just kidding around with Oggs yesterday kasi he was mistaken for a call boy so I told him, "So Oggs, magkano ka ba?" And Chi and Nico started whispering. God, it's just exasperating! And later on, I was just teasing Oggs again, and handed him a 20-peso bill. Nico, ever so critical, said, "You know, it looks bad for you." Hello?!!! Earth to Nico!!! It's just so annoying!!! And just a while ago, when I got home, Chi wasn't talking to me nanaman! Ano ba!!! Leave me alone nga! God!!! Pwede ba, stop na! I have other close friends naman, like Sands, Joven, Kiel, Ate Karen and Dianne who don't do that. Why can't they just take things as they are and leave it at that? I mean, not everything means something for crying out loud!
Anyway, I'm leaving in a while to watch a play with Sands. Sara's in this play 12 Angry Women. It's 150 pesos nanaman from my now-inexistent allowance but I really need a break from law school and from my so-called friends. I need people who DON'T care, or people who do, but aren't so into psychoanalyzing me. To hell with them godammit.

Aquarius Horoscope for 1/24 - 1/30
This week's scenario is highlighted by an inclination to be aggressive and hot-tempered, particularly when your will is blocked.
Your pushiness or competitive attitude is likely to create antagonism, hostility, and further resistance to your efforts.
It is best to work alone rather than try to cooperate or coordinate your efforts with anyone at this time.
Also, you are impatient and tend to behave in an impulsive, irritable way which makes you more prone to accidents during this period.

My Dangwa day
I'm finally back in Loyola Heights. Just got back from Dangwa a few minutes ago.
Anyway, my musings for the day...
I got called for Admin today, and amazingly, I think I did pretty well. =) I did that Pascual case, the first one under Exhaustion of Administrative Remedies. Like anyone cares. Hehe! Anyway, our block had an unpleasant run-in with pseudo-deaf-mute-ism in Ma'am Daway's Labor class today. As the story goes, she had a sore throat, and couldn't talk. I would've predicted that we would have either had a quiz or taken the day off, but no! She really wanted to hold class, so we spent an hour and a half trying to decipher the "writings on the wall" in lieu of sign language, which none of us know. Haha! My hands sweated a bucket the whole meeting. I wasn't able to study, I could't understand her handwriting, and there was dead silence with the occasional muted ramblings from our side of the classroom, during those godawful moments when she would hurriedly scribble questions, answers, and comments attempting to be funny. I finally gave up trying to keep up with whatever was going on and went out for a smoke and two Flat Tops. By the time I got back, class was over and the 2B people were right at the door trying to kick us out of 308 so they could have their share of the joys of law school.
In the middle of the day, though, I saw my red shirt guy in the lib. =) He's the epitome of UN-cute, UN-cool, etcetera etcetera, but I really do like him. He's so fun to be with. (Sigh!) Grabe, this is so high school. Anyway, wala lang...
So anyway, as I was saying, Marie, Jen and I headed over to Dangwa to canvass and to place our order na for the Winlaw Valentine's Day Rose Sale. The whole old Manila area is pretty scary compared to the comforts of Loyola Heights, but it was okay naman. We had kwek-kwek (Absolutely no idea how to spell it...), isaw (Barbequed chicken intestines! yum! Hehe!), and 15-peso halo-halo which turned out to be really good. Oh yeah, we roamed around the flower section too. I could live there. Honest. I love flowers. Fresh ones, anyway. The whole place was filled to the brim with flowers of all sorts. If only I could badger someone into giving me flowers... Tsk tsk... Oh well... Anyway, after placing our order, all three of us headed home na. It was a fun trip naman, tiring nga lang. But I'm looking forward to tomorrow. -Ahem- -Ahem-
It feels so bad when your wallet costs more than what's actually stored in it. And the sadder part is my wallet isn't all that expensive. Talk about a fiscal crisis. I don't have a fiscal crisis. I don't have anything to have a crisis about. = o

=)
I now have a new pleasant distraction. Heehee! Wala lang. =) Kakahappy.
By the way, L.A. and I chatted for a wee bit kanina. Apparently, he thinks I'm STILL mad at him. Was I ever? Well, yeah. I think so. But I told him na well, happy ako ngayon, so I guess I'm not mad at anybody. Oh well. Ambot.
Anyway, back to my new thing. I'm going jogging later, 7-ish siguro. To tip the balance of my overly UNhealthy lifestyle in favor of the, um, good?

Another day at the QC RTC
With Credit midterms down, and my fate uncertain, I lived yet another sleepless night for fear I wouldn't be able to wake up to go to the Quezon City RTC for our CivPro court observation thingie. I have never been, and will never will be a morning person. Okay, scrap that. I'm a morning person when I don't have to go to school. I love waking up naman in the morning if the first sound I hear is waves crashing. Or when I'm going hiking with my dad in Batangas. Or when I'm going to the beach or somewhere out-of-town with my friends or my family. But when it comes to going to class! God! You'd have to literally drag me out of bed and drench me with either ice-cold or scalding hot water to get me going. Oh well...
NOTE: Skip this part it you're not interested in the intricacies of going to court et. al. So anyway... Thankfully, I didn't have to spend my precious wallet-fillers to take a cab there. I hitched with A.R. na lang. Anyway, Mario, A.R., Franco, Law and I (Cherry and Reena weren't able to go for some reason I can't seem to remember right now...) are done na with hearing on a motion (2), and pre-trial (2). I only need to go to a hearing on cases covered by summary procedure, cross-examination and lupon proceedings. I'm thinking of creating a great big fuss in Loyola Heights and observing the proceedings then. Hehe! We saw Ma'am Chrissy din there. She was counsel for Caltex ba or some other big company. She looked kinda frumpy and messed up though, like she didn't bother to dress up or to even comb her hair. But then again, I guess it comes with the stress of ACCRA.
It's always such a shock going to court. What with all the handcuffed yellow-clad people and the armed policemen and the crappy lawyers. It's hot and crowded, and people stare. But I still can't imagine myself doing anything else besides lawyering. Oh well...
